Eslie the Greater

Tramping joyfully through ankle-breakingly uneven ground, I arrived at Eslie the Greater after a veritable wild goose chase - identifying Eslie the Lesser and Eslie the Greater (both within eyesight of each other, on a clear day I should add) only after trekking though stoney encampments and boggy fields.

Eslie the Greater seen from the North. Situated on rough ground, in a field littered with boulders which pile up around the edges, along I suspect with broken megaliths from this and other nearby circles.

It was too wet to sit down and wax lyrical but I did enjoy squelching in my wellies around the fields and woods. I might add that I kept my wellies on while driving - a first.

Esslie the Lesser is shown below. Unfortunately I couldn't get up close (also a first!!) as the farmer had got sheep grazing and an electric fence going. I'd gone under electric fences already this trip, but ones which I'd guessed were off, as no livestock were grazing.
