One of Aberdeenshire's show sites. Restored RSC with central ring cairn. Sadly lacking in atmosphere owing to the dog walking park, mown grass, gravel, gates, notices and car park.
I'm now riding this double backed recumbent. A cleft yawns down through the great stone, splitting it into two slabs, each 2 feet thick.
Earlier, as I meditated at Tillyfourie, I could not clear my mind for its excitement over all these places to visit. Well, Loanhead, you legend, your name brought a tear to my eye in my first encounter with you on the page of Burl's Rings of Stone. Extraordinary heavy metal circle near Aberdeen Dyce airport. One of the finest, most complete monuments of its kind. The growing urbanisation surrounding it cannot hold this druidic temple back.
